Will of Robert Tremlett of West Teignmouth

In the Name of God Amen I Robert Tremlett Residing in West Teignmouth in the County of Devon being in health of body and of sound mind memory and understanding blessed be Almighty God for the same calling to remembrance the uncertainty of this life do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say ffirst I commit my immortal Soul unto God who gave it me and my body to the Earth and with respect to my Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I give and bequeath as follows that is to say I give unto each of my Children one Thousand pounds lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid him or her when they shall attain the Age of twenty one years and I give and bequeath unto my Wife Mary Tremlett and in order to have this my last Will and Testament comply'd with I appoint Stephen Knight of St John's Newfoundland and John Butler of West Teignmouth aforesaid Merchants with Mary Tremlett aforesaid my Exors in Trust of this my last Will it is also my wish and desire that the Trade I now carry on under the ffirm of Robert Tremlett & Co shall be continued so long as it's approved by my Wife Mary Tremlett aforementioned and one of my Executors above named and no longer it is also my wish that the Cost of Educating and providing for my Children until they attain the Age of twenty one years shall be paid out of the general Stock so as not to lessen the sum of One Thousand pounds intended to be paid to each of them when he or she attains the Age above mentioned the Names of my Children are as follows John Bryant Tremlett Robert Tremlett Robert Tremlett Thomas Tremlett William Tremlett Ann Tremlett and ffanny Tremlett and in case either of my Children die before they attain the Age of twenty one years it's my wish that his or her intended sum of One Thousand pounds shall be equally divided between the Surviving Children when of Age as aforesaid it is also my desire that my Son John Bryant Tremlett has been brought up in the Trade now carried on at Newfoundland that with his Mother's consent he shall have an Eight part of the Concern to commence on the first day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and twelve and as to my Son Thomas Tremlett who is also bringing up in the Newfoundland Trade I would recommend that on his being out of his Apprenticeship that he become a partner in the Trade above mentioned in like proportion with his Brother John as I consider it will be more to their advantage to be together than be separated but if it shall be thought otherwise by my Executors and those interested let them not be partners I also request that the debts due me from either of my Brothers also from Mrs Grace Westcott my Wife's Sister may be forgiven I also forgive any debt that may be due me from the Guild of the Gallery in the Chapel at East Teignmouth if any may be at my decease I also request that a black Cloth may be given to the above Chapel sufficient to cover the pulpit and Cushion and it's my request that my body may be buried in the Chapel Yard and that near it may be fixed a plain Stone on the inside of the Chapel Wall with this Inscription Near this Stone is deposited the Mortal remains of Robert Tremlett aged _____ In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Eighteenth day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eleven in Teignmouth aforesaid and in the presence of three Witnesses Frances Macfarlane _ Grace Coyell _ Ann Reer
