THROWLEY, a parish in the hundred of WONFORD, county of DEVON, 6¾ miles (E. S. E.) from Oakhampton, containing 386 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £19. 6.10½., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is a small plain building. There are some remains of a chapel at Walland Hill. The river Teign forms one of the boundaries of the parish.
