The obituary was presented at the Association’s July 1913 Buckfastleigh meeting. Kelly’s Directory for Devon and Cornwall (Part 1), 1902, p. 742 indicates that Mr Lovejoy was at that time residing at Northgate House, in Castle Street, Totnes- now a Grade II Listed building. The obituary may be found in a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal that can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. Mr. Lovejoy was the youngest son of Mr. Samuel Lovejoy, of Chancery Lane, London, and resided at Totnes, where he took an active interest in church work, being sidesman and subsequently churchwarden during the vicariate of the late Rev. T. H. Elliott. He was also one of the managers of the Church Schools and a Dart Navigation Commissioner. He joined the Association in 1900, and for many years was the meteorological observer for the Association for the Northgate Station at Totnes. He died, after a painful illness, at the age of sixty-eight years, at his residence, Northgate House, Totnes, on 5 April, and was buried at Totnes on 9 April, 1913.
