William Neyle's Memorandum

The parish register of West Ogwell beginning in the year 1681

Memorandum,

Paid Mr Henry Gilbert Septr 6th 1790, for repairing the dilapidations at East Ogwell Parsonage House & Chancel, Sixteen pounds & five shillings, as per receipt.

Aug 10th 1790, all

Feby 19th 1793, paid Thomas Smith, Mason, 5s 6d, which with two Guineas paid him on the 2d of the same month, and one Guinea paid him on Decr 8th, 1792, & one Guinea paid him on Sepr 25th 1792, makes £4:9:6 for making walls to the Court,  Gardens etc. at East Ogwell Parsonage as pr rect.

April 24th 1793, paid James Stoneman, Carpenter, for repairs at East Ogwell Parsonage one pound eleven shillings, nine pence, as pr rect.

Will: Neyle, June 16th, 1797, Resigned the Rectory of East Ogwell, to which the Revd: Thomas Vining Whidborne was instituted, the Fourth of August 1797, and inducted the 6th of the same month.

Mem: * Preached first at West Ogwell, Sund: July 3rd, after Mr Prout’s cession, on Thurs: June 20th 1774.

William Neyle, Clerk, was inducted into the Rectory of West Ogwell October 20th, 1774: by the Revd: Thomas Prout, Rector of East Ogwell: was instituted to it by Bp Keppel, Octr 19th 1774: read the articles &c Sunday, Novr 8th 1774. *

The said William Neyle was inducted into the Rectory of East Ogwell on Thursday, the fifth of February 1789, by the Revd: William Short Junr: was instituted to it by the Revd: ..?.. on Thursday 29th January 1789, read the articles on Sunday March 1st 1789.

Memorandum

The repairs of West Ogwell Parsonage House, paid by Will: Neyle, amounted in the whole to £42:4:6, as appears by Edward Gilberts receipts; one payment of £25:14s:0d on Novr 23d 1778, another of £16:10s:6d, on Novr 5th, 1779.

Paid John Croyden the Glazier for repairing the Chancel windows, of West Ogwell Church, as appears by his receipt, dated July 3rd, 1782, 12s 6d 12s.

Paid William Coulman, Mason, for putting a Stone in the Chancel window of West Ogwell Church, as appears by his receipt, dated Octr 28th, 1782, 14s:6d.

Paid Edward Gilbert for flooring & plaistering West Ogwell Chancel, as appears by his receipt, dated December 17th, 1782, £4:7s:6d.

Paid Edward Gilbert for repairing the gates on West Ogwell Glebe, as appears by his receipt, dated April 29th, 1783, £2:19s:0d

Paid Edward Gilbert for sawing timber for repairs to West Ogwell Glebe, as by rect among other articles June 5th, 1783, 10s:3d

Pd James Gilbert for Iron-work done at West Ogwell Parsonage, as per rect Feby 17th 1784
