WOODLAND, a chapelry in the parish of IPPLEPEN, hundred of HAYTOR, county of DEVON, 2 miles (E. by S.) from Ashburton, containing 233 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy with Ipplepen, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese of Exeter, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant. William Culling, in 1722, gave to annuity of £2 for the education of children.
