ZEAL-MONACHORUM, a parish in the hundred of NORTH TAWTON with WINKLEY, county of DEVON, 1¼ mile (N.) from Bow, containing 681 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £17. 8. 9., and in the patronage of the Earl of Morley. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The river Yeo flows through the parish. Sixteen poor children are educated for an annuity of £5, the bequest of Weekes Hole, Esq., in 1768.
