Tony was born in Winlaton Mill on 20th July 1946 and grew up in the village. He was a regular at Strathmore Road Methodist Youth Club in his teens. In 1969 Tony married Margaret Oxley and they set up home in Lemington. Tony and Margaret have a son, Stuart, who was born in 1973, and a grandson, Ben.

Although Tony worked as an electrician throughout his working life, he had a wide variety of interests including Astronomy, Amateur Radio (callsign G8NPP), Electronics, and Local History. Tony (A.L. Brown) was the author of two instructional books "Vehicle Security Systems" (ISBN: 0750626305) and "Domestic Security Systems" (ISBN: 0750632356) and he'd written two historical novels "A Deadly Treasure" and "Old Mill Chronicles" which he had hoped to publish.

No doubt Tony was looking forward to his retirement when he could devote much more time to his wife and family and to his many interests, but tragically Tony was killed in a car crash on the Ryton Bypass on 10th December 2008 at the age of only 62. There's a memorial chair dedicated to Tony in the Derwent Walk Country Park at Winlaton Mill, and there's a small memorial attached to railings near to the spot where Tony was killed.

Sincere condolences to Margaret and to all the family, and many thanks for allowing GENUKI to reproduces Tony's work.
