“BOXTED, a parish in the Colchester division of the hundred of LEXDEN, county of ESSEX, 5 miles (N.) from Colchester, containing 793 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £7. 13. 9., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of London.
