"EASTWOOD, a parish in the hundred of ROCHFORD, county of ESSEX, 1½ mile (S. W. by S.) from Rochford, containing 530 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £12, and in the patronage of the Crown. "WALLASEA (ISLE-OF), an island, partly in the parishes of CANEWDON, EASTWOOD, PAGLESHAM, GREAT-STAMBRIDGE, and LITTLE-WAKERING, hundred of ROCHFORD, county of ESSEX, 6 miles (E. N. E.) from Rochford. It is now a peninsula, formed by the rivers Crouch and Broomhill, and joined to the main land by a causeway, kept up at the expense of the several parishes to which it belongs."
