"FOBBING, a parish in the hundred of BARSTABLE, county of ESSEX, 3½ miles (E.) from Horndon on the Hill, containing 407 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £21, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Michael.
