"FYFIELD, a parish in the hundred of ONGAR, county of ESSEX, 2¾ miles (N. E. by N.) from Chipping-Ongar, containing 583 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £25. 7 6., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated; to St. Nicholas.
