“CHISHALL (GREAT), a parish in the hundred of UTTLESFORD, county of ESSEX, 8 ¼ miles (W. by N.) from Saffron-Walden, containing 353 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £10, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of J.
