"GREENSTEAD, a parish within the liberty of COLCHESTER, though locally in the Colchester division of the hundred of Lexden, county of ESSEX, 1 mile (E.) from Colchester, containing 510 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £5, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
