"LINDSELL, a parish in the hundred of DUNMOW, county of ESSEX, 4 miles (S. E. by S.) from Thaxted, containing 353 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £8. The Earl of Guilford was patron in 1821."
