"LOUGHTON, a parish in the hundred of ONGAR, county of ESSEX, 14 miles (N.E. by N.) from London, containing 979. inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the jurisdiction of the Commissary of London, concurrently with the Consistorial Court of the Bishop of London, rated in the king's books at £18. 3. 9. Miss Whitaker was patroness in 1805. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. There is a place of worship for Baptists."
