Margaret Roding, 29 miles from London, in Dunmow union and hundred. Rochester diocese, Essex Arhdeaconry, Roding deanery. Population in 1861 was 236 Acres 1,222.

"ROOTHING (MARGARET), a parish in the hundred of DUNMOW, county of ESSEX, 7¼ miles (N.N.E.) from Chipping-Ongar, containing 209. inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £10. 12. 6., and in the patronage of Mrs. Harding.
