"MATCHING, a parish in the hundred of HARLOW, county of ESSEX, 3¼ miles (E. by N.) from Harlow containing 599 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the jurisdiction of the Commissary of Essex and Herts, concurrently with the Consistorial Court of the Bishop of London, rated in the king's books at £12. 10. 5., and in the patronage of the Trustees of Felstead school, on the nomination of the Bishop of, London.
