"SHOEBURY (NORTH), a parish in the hundred of ROCHFORD, county of ESSEX, 3¼ miles (E. N. E.) from South End, containing 210 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £9, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown.
