"RAYNE, a parish in the hundred of HINCKFORD, county of ESSEX, 1¾ mile (W.) from Braintree, containing 343 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £14. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the Earl of Essex.
