"SANDON, a parish in the hundred of CHELMSFORD, county of ESSEX, 2 miles (W. by S.) from Danbury, containing 488 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £13. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Queen's College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The Chelmer and Blackwater navigation passes along part of the boundary of this parish."
