"THOYDON-GARNON, or COOPERSHALL, a parish in the hundred of ONGAR, county of ESSEX, 2½ miles (S. S. E.) from Epping, containing 709 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £17. J. R. Abdy, Esq. was patron in 1812. The church is dedicated to All Saints. Lady Ann Sydney Fitzwilliam, in 1602, bequeathed a small rent-charge towards the foundation of an almshouse for four poor widows."
