"VIRLEY, a parish in the hundred of WINSTREE, county of ESSEX, 8¼ miles (S. S. W.) from Colchester, containing 58 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £7. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the Bishop of London.
