“COLNE (WAKES), a parish in the Witham division of the hundred of LEXDEN, county of ESSEX, 5 ½ miles (E. by S.) from Halstead, containing 417 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £12. 0. 5., and in the patronage of the Earl of Verulam. The church is dedicated to All Saints.
