"BATSFORD, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Kiftsgate, in the county of Gloucester, 2 miles to the N.W. of Moreton. It is situated at the northern part of the Cotswold hills, not far from the Stratford branch of the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton railway. The Fosse Way passes near the parish. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, of the value of £370, in the patronage of Lord Redesdale. The church was rebuilt by Lord Redesdale in 1822, and is dedicated to St. Mary. Batsford Park is the seat of Lord Redesdale."
