"EAST LEACH MARTIN, (or Bouthrop), a parish in the hundred of Brightwells Barrow, county Gloucester, 4 miles N.W. of Lechlade, its post town, and 5 N.E. of Fairford. It is situated on the river Leach, and contains the hamlet of Fyfield. The village, which is small, is wholly agricultural. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £150, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church is a small edifice, with a tower containing four bells. The charities produce about £2 per annum. There is a National school."
