- "HIGHNAM, a hamlet in the parish of Churcham, hundred of Dudstone, county Gloucester, 2 miles W. of Gloucester. The principal residence is Highnam Court, built by the Cookes, after a design by Hugo Jones. It contains a picture gallery, with an original portrait of Cromwell, a Madonna by Titian, Algernon Sydney by Lely, &c."
