"CUERDALE, a township in the parish of Blackburn, lower division of the hundred of Blackburn, in the county of Lancaster, 2½ miles E. of Preston, its post town. It is situated on the E. bank of the river Ribble, and W. of the Derwent. Cuerdale Lodge is the principal residence."
