"INGOL AND COTTAM, a hamlet in the parish of Preston, hundred of Amounderness, county Lancaster, 2 miles N. of Preston. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture. The hamlet of Cottam consists of a few scattered houses. There are a Roman Catholic chapel and a school."
