"MOSS-SIDE, a township in the parish of Manchester, hundred of Salford, county Lancaster, 2 miles S. of Manchester, its post town. The village, which is considerable, is neatly built. In 1837 an Act was obtained for laying out an ornamental park. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Manchester, value £600. The church is a modern edifice. There are National and other schools."
