"RUSLAND, a chapelry in the parish of Colton, hundred of Lonsdale, county Lancaster, 7 miles N.E. of Ulverston. It is situated in the neighbourhood of Windermere, on the river Leven. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Carlisle, value £64, in the patronage of the Incumbent of Colton. The church, dedicated to St. Paul, was built in 1745."
