The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

"BLENDWORTH, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Finch-Dean, in the county of Southampton, 8 miles to the S. of Petersfield. Horndean is its post town. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Winchester, of the value of £226, in the patronage of the Rev. E. L. Ward, incumbent. The church is dedicated to St. Giles. The charitable endowments of the parish amount to £21 per annum, of which £19 is the produce of a bequest by William Appleford, in 1695, for the education of poor children. The chief residence is Blendworth House, the seat of Sir W. Knighton, Bart."
