The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

"BOARHUNT, a parish in the hundred of Portsdown, in the county of Southampton, 2 miles to the N.E. of Fareham. Portsdown Hill extends into this parish, on the summit of which stands the column erected in honour of Lord Nelson, after the victory of Trafalgar, in 1805. The living is a donative curacy in the diocese of Winchester, of the value, with that of Southwick united to it, of £154, in the patronage of T. Thistlethwaite, Esq."
