"EASTROP, a parish in the upper half of the hundred of Basingstoke, county Hants, half a mile N. of Basingstoke, of which it forms a suburb. It is situated about 1 mile from the South-Western railway station, and close to the canal. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester, value £73, in the patronage of W. R. Workman, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is an ancient structure. Lord Bolton is lord of the manor. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge. "
