"HANNINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Chuteley, Kingsclere and N. divisions of the county Hants, 4 miles from the Overton, and 8 from the Basingstoke railway stations, and 10 from Newbury, its post town. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Winchester, value £410, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is a small plain structure. There is a National school. On Cottington's Hill is a barrow N. of the Roman road. "
