"HURSTBOURNE-PRIORS, a parish in the upper half of the hundred of Evingar, county Hants, 2 miles S.W. of the Whitchurch railway station, and 62 miles from London. Andover is its post town. The village is small, and a portion of the inhabitants are employed at a paper-mill. The living is a vicarage' annexed to the curacy of St. Mary Bourne, in the diocese of Winchester, value £202, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to St. John, has a low tower containing a peal of bells. The parochial charities produce £2 per annum. Hurstbourne Park is the seat of the Earl of Portsmouth, who is lord of the manor. "
