"YATELEY, a parish and village in the hundred of Crondall, county Hants, 4½ miles N.W. of Farnborough, 6 N.E. of Winchfield station on the London and South-Western, and 3 from the Blackwater station on the Reading and Reigate railways. The parish is situated on the road from London to Southampton, near the river Blackwater, and comprises the tythings of Yateley Cove and Hawley, which last was constituted a district parish in 1839. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Winchester, and in the patronage of the bishop. The parish church is dedicated to St. Peter, and at Hawley is another church, recently erected for the district of Hawley and Cove. The Baptists have a chapel. There is a National school, partially endowed by Mary Barker in 1706. The charities produce about £75 per annum. "BLACKWATER, a village in the parish of Yateley, and hundred of Crondall, in the county of Southampton, near Yateley. It is a station on the Reading branch of the South-Eastern railway. The village is seated on the confines of Surrey and Berkshire, on the banks of the small river Blackwater, which is crossed by a bridge. In the immediate neighbourhood is Sandhurst College. The Baptists have a chapel in the village. A cattle fair is held here annually on the 8th September. "COVE, a tything in the parish of Yateley, in the county of Hants, 5 miles N. of Farnham. It is situated near the Farnborough station on the South-Western line. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Winchester, value £100, in the patronage of the bishop. "HAWLEY, a tything and ecclesiastical district in the parishes of Yateley and Ashe, hundred of Crondall, county Hants, 1 mile from Blackwater station, and 5½ miles S.W. of Bagshot. It is situated near the river Blackwater, and was formed into a separate ecclesiastical district in 1839. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Winchester. There is a National school. A fair is held on the 8th November, chiefly for cattle.

"MINLEY, a tything in the parish of Yateley, lower half of the hundred of Crondall, county Hants, 6 miles N.E. of Odiham, and 3 N.E. of Hartford Bridge."
