"BYTON, a parish in the hundred of Wigmore, in the county of Hereford, 4 miles to the E. of Presteign, in Radnorshire, its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford, value £105, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There are charitable endowments for the poor, producing £9 a year."
