"MICHAELCHURCH-ON-ARROW, a parish in the hundred of Painscastle, county Radnor, 6 miles S.W. of Kington, its post town, and 4 W. of Cardiff. The village, which is inconsiderable, is situated on the river Ely, a branch of the Arrow. There are ruins of a Norman castle. The land is chiefly in pasture. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Brilley, in the diocese of Hereford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael."
