"ALKHAM, a parish in the hundred of Folkestone, lathe of Shepway, in the county of Kent, 4 miles to the N.W. of Dover. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury, value with the perpetual curacy of Chapel-le-Ferne, £152, in the patronage of the archbishop. The church, which is partly in the Norman, partly in the early English style, is dedicated to St. Anthony. Alkham House is the residence of R. Halford, Esq. It is believed that a church existed here as early as the reign of Edward the Confessor."
