"HAM, a parish in the hundred of Eastry, lathe of St. Augustine, county Kent, 2½ miles S.W. of Sandwich. The parish is of small extent, and contains only a few scattered houses. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury, value £181, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church, dedicated to St. George, is a small ancient structure. Updown House, the residence of Major Thomas Thompson, is the principal seat."
