"ST. LAWRENCE, Poultney [sic], the church of, was situated on the west side of Lawrence Poultney-lane. It derives its name from the above-named saint, and John Poultney, who founded a college adjoining to it. The church was consumed by the great fire of 1666, and the parish united to that of St. Mary Abchurch." [James Elmes. The church was destroyed in 1666 and not rebuilt, the church ground and churchyard remain.
The parish was later united with St Mary Abchurch 1670.
