William White's History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Norfolk 1845

BIRCHAM-NEWTON parish has a pleasant hamlet 1 mile N. of Great Bircham, and 15 miles N.E. of Lynn, and contains 107 inhabitants, and 1,124A. of land, belonging to the Marquis Cholmondeley, the lord of the manor, and patron of the rectory, valued in the King's Book at £14 6s. 8d., and now enjoyed by the Rev. Wm. Berry, B.A., with 47½A. of glebe, and the rectory of Bircham-Tofts. The joint rectories were valued in 1831 at £435. The CHURCH has a nave, chancel, and tower.

The two farmers are, Philip Jarrett and Maria Lancaster.
