CAWSTON is a village 11 miles N. by W. of Norwich, 4 miles W.S.W. of Aylsham, and 2 miles E. of Reepham. By virtue of an ancient charter, this place is privileged to hold a weekly market, but the inhabitants do not avail themselves of the boon, although to retain the right of doing so they regularly hold an annual market on the last Wednesday in April. A sheep fair is held on the last Wednesday in August, and another on February 1st. The parish comprises 4296 acres, and contained in 1841, 1130 inhabitants; its present residents:-
