Clergy of the Church of England (CCEd), 1540 to 1835
The Clergy Database contains details of clergymen, dioceses, bishops, etc. It ends in 1835, which was when publications such as Clergy Lists became available.

 

This was published in 1817, 1822, 1829 and 1836. Its title page described it as:

containing a complete register of the Dignities and Benefices of the Church of England, with the Names of their present Possessors, Patrons, &c. and an Alphabetical List of the Dignitaries and Beneficed Clergy; with an Appendix containing the Ecclesiastical Patronage at the Disposal of the King, the Lord Chancellor, Archbishops and Bishops, Deans and Chapters, Colleges at the Universities, &c.

It was succeeded by "The Clergy List" in 1841.

The Clergy List was first published in 1841, containing details of the clergy and of benefices in England and Wales. Later editions included Scotland, Ireland and other parts of the Anglican Communion. It continued until 1917, when it merged with Crockford's Clerical Directory.

Crockford's Clerical Directory was first published in 1858, containing details of benefices in England and Wales, and biographies of the clergy. Later editions included Scotland, Ireland and other parts of the Anglican Communion. It continues to the present day.
