FOXLEY is a pleasant village, 3 miles E. of North Elmham, and 5 miles W. of Reepham, and its parish is in Mitford union, East Dereham county court district, Norwich bankruptcy district, Eynsford petty sessional division, Eynsford hundred, Reepham polling district of North Norfolk, Sparham rural deanery, and Norwich archdeaconry. It had 220 inhabitants in 1881, living on 1620 acres, and has a rateable value of £2130. Most of the parish is the property of the Rev. Henry Evans Lombe, J.P., of Bylaugh, but about 300A. forms part of the Earl of Leicester's Beck hall estate, and there are a few smaller proprietors.

The CHURCH (St. Thomas) comprises nave, chancel, porch, and fine square tower with six bells, and is of Perdendicular architecture, except the chancel, which is early English. The rectory, valued in the King's Book at £6 13s. 4d., has 21A. 1R. 26P. of glebe, and a yearly rent-charge of £410, awarded in lieu of tithes. The Rev. H.E. Lombe, the lord of the manor, is patron, and the Rev. Louis Augustus Norgate, B.A., is the incumbent. There is a commodious Rectory house, erected in 1842.

At the enclosure, in 1814, two acres were set aside as a clay-pit for the parishioners.

The Primitive Methodists have a small chapel in the parish.

The children of the parish attend the united district school at Bawdeswell (a mile distant), and participate in the benefit of the Leeds charity (see Bawdeswell [This was an endowment for the education of 12 poor children, left by John Leeds in 1728]).
