Land Tax: 1767-68

This tax was based on the value of property etc. and paid by the owner or (sometimes) occupier according to their agreement. It started in 1692 and valuations are based on those done at this date.

  • Total valuation is £202.
  • The "Yearly Assessment" column was not on the original and has been calculated from the "Quarterly Assessment" column.
  • In other documents and transcriptions the following alternative spellings have been seen which appear to refer to the same people/places:-
    Noriss/Norris.
  • The Incumbent of Kilverstone from 8th Dec 1769 until September 1798 was the Revd Wm. Norris according to the "List of Norfolk Benefices" by "Dawson Turner" published in 1847. He was succeeded by Revd George Boldero.
