"PENSTHORPE parish, 2 miles E. of Fakenham, is in Walsingham union, Gallow hundred and petty sessional division, Fakenham county court district, Norwich bankruptcy district, Fakenham polling district of West Norfolk, Burnham rural deanery, and Norfolk archdeaconry. It had 20 inhabitants in 1881, living on 753 acres, and has a rateable value of £836. The parish is in one farm, belonging to the trustees of the late Rev. R. Hamond, and occupied by Washington Hamond. The Church was desecrated many years ago, and its remains now form a cattle shed. The rectory, valued in the King's Book at £10, and now at £170, is in the gift of certain trustees, and in the incumbency of the Rev. Samuel Dendy of Lattiford House, Wincanton, Somerset." - In 1883 the parish was in the Deanery of Burnham, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk.
It could have been in a different deanery or archdeaconry both before and after this date. - Blomefield, in the "Topographical History of the County of Norfolk", says "There was no church here in 1633". He does not give the dedication.

There may be more people living in detached parts of the parish (if there were any) and, if so, the number may or may not be included in the figures above. It is quite difficult to be sure from the population tables.
