Population in 1651, 1801, 1811, 1821 and 1831

Reepham with Kerdiston is one of the few places in the county for which population figures from before 1801 survive.

This information is extracted from the Baptism Register for Reepham with Kerdiston and comes after the 1801 and 1812 baptism pages. It can be found in Norfolk Record Office document on a film [with the reference MF/RO 512/1]. It contains only statistics for Reepham with Kerdiston but includes names for the part known as Kerdiston which are on a separate page.

1801 This Year an Act of Parliament was passed for taking an Account of the Population of Great Britain & the following is a copy of the Form of the Answers delivered by the Overseers of Reepham & Kerdiston.

In the year 1651 I discover by an old record that in Reepham the No of families was 44 & of persons 190 & in Kerdiston the No of families was 29 & of persons 148

Hence a total of both Parishes was the No of families was 73 & of persons 338
