THELVETON, 2 miles E.N.E. of Diss, has in its parish 169 souls, and 1001 acres of land, all the property of Thos. Havers, Esq., of Thelveton Hall, a large Elizabethan mansion, with octagonal turrets, and a Catholic chapel.

The Church (St. Andrew,) has lately been thoroughly repaired and beautified, and has a very ancient font, in fine preservation, decorated with figures of the twelve apostles. The rectory, valued in the King's Book at £9, is in the patronage of the Crown, and incumbency of the Rev. Wm. Holmes, M.A., of Scole. A neat parsonage house has lately been erected. The glebe is 8A., and the tithes were commuted, in 1839, for £290 per annum.
