"TWYFORD parish, 4 miles W.N.W. of Reepham, has only 94 souls, and 529 acres of land, mostly the property of Colonel Henry Packe, the lord of the manor, who resides at Twyford Hall, a neat mansion, with pleasant grounds. The Church (St. Nicholas) is a rectory, valued in the King's Book at £4. 19s. 9½d., and now having 12A. of glebe, and a yearly rent of £155, awarded in 1838, in lieu of tithes. It was augmented with £200 of Queen Anne's Bounty, in 1792, and is in the patronage and incumbency of the Rev. John Spurgeon, M.A. " [William White, History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Norfolk (1845) - Transcription copyright © Pat Newby]
